Job Summary

Manage the Branch Office, providing support to staff and ensuring that both short-term and long-term Branch goals are achieved. Ensure strong portfolio growth, superior loan portfolio quality, strong client service, good employee morale, and branch profitability. Strengthen Branch profitability by developing and servicing clients directly.

Ensure that the Branch maintains up-to-date, accurate records and generates necessary reports on-time. Plan and coordinate an efficient Branch work flow. Plan and manage the Branch’s financial budget.


Main Responsibilities :

1. Management of Branch

  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Dept., and Area Manager- train, support, and motivate branch staff.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and discipline within the Branch and ensure that all staff members are performing according to expectation.
  • Ensure the Branch work flow is efficient and well-defined on a weekly and monthly basis.

2. Build community rapport

  • Build rapport with community and business associations and leaders;
  • Be known and visible in the community;
  • Develop goodwill of community towards Accion.
  • Become knowledgeable and known in the Branch’s geographic zone.

3. Financial Planning and Management

  • Develop annual plans and budgets for the branch, paying particular attention to the creation of efficiencies and reduction of the Branch costs.
  • Approve Branch expenses within the budget parameters.

4. Supervision and Monitoring

  • Ensure that all Branch staff follow and implement policies and procedures.
  • Spot-check approved applications.
  • Set performance goals with Branch staff and monitor performance per procedures for all Branch staff.
  • Implement the performance management system at the Branch level.

5. Branch Administration

  • Ensure that the Branch maintains neat, up-to-date and accurate client records.
  • Organize and maintain neat, up-to-date and accurate files regarding performance of each Branch staff member.
  • Ensure that all approved loans in the Branch are disbursed timely and accurately.

6. Branch Reporting

  • Prepare and submit Branch portfolio and other financial reports in time and on a regular basis.
  • Complete summary Branch reports of supervision and monitoring activities and findings timeously on a regular basis.

7. Loan Approvals

  • Coordinate the activities of the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her Branch.
  • Chair the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her Branch within his/her authority level.
  • Ensure all documentation and requirements are complete prior to loan approvals.
  • Ensure quality of analysis by all loan officers in the Branch.

8. Business Development

  • Ensure that the loan portfolio growth matches the Branch Budget.
  • In cases where the rate of growth is below the Budget, the Branch Manager should provide adequate explanation for the deviations and advise the Credit Manager on the most appropriate corrective measures.
  • Meet and build rapport with all branch staff, business/market associations and other relevant organizations in the branch’s zone on a regular basis.
  • Monitor business progress, provide assistance, demonstrate concern, and build loyalty among the business/market associations and clients.
  • Keep abreast of the economic developments in the branch’s zone.

9. Debt Recovery

  • Review the daily repayment reports and other relevant reports per Loan Officer and for the entire Branch as soon as they are available.
  • Ensure that debt recovery strategy and procedures are adhered to.
  • Assist with late repayment recovery where necessary, in accordance with Accion policies and procedures.

Qualification and Experience

Degrees & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Banking, Finance, Accounting or related fields with numerate coursework.
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Branch Manager or Supervisor in a Reputable Microfinance or Commercial Bank
  • Strong Management Skills, Able to Coach and Motivate
  • Strong Analytical Skills – able to read and interpret financial statements and evaluate loan recommendations
  • High degree of aptitude.
  • Good understanding of the local economy.
  • Ability to empathize with the need of micro, small and medium-sized businesses
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites- Excel, Power Point, Word and Others
